Over his extensive career, Roberto
has gone to more than 45 countries, participating in the most prestigious
tango shows. He began as a professional dancer in 1981 performing folk
dances with the Brandsen Ballet and later with the Santiago Ayala Ballet “El
Chucaro”. In 1988 he began dancing tango with Juan Carlos Copes’ production
“Tango-Tango”. In Argentina he has been a staff member of some of the most
important and traditional tango establishments, including La Ventana,
Casablanca, El Viejo Almacen, Michelangelo, Piazzolla Tango and Taconeando.
Outside of Argentina he has toured with many tango dance companies,
including “Forever Tango”, “Fascination Tango” and “Piazzolla Tango”, and
has participated in such films as “Assasination Tango”, directed by Robert
Duvall.
Guillermina has performed in Tango x
2, been principal dancer for Mariano Mores' Orchestra, danced with the US
and Europe tours of Forever Tango, been an exclusive principle dancers with
Julio Iglesias' Tango world tour, and performed in Tango Magic and Tango
Argentino at Linoln Center and Carnegie Hall. She is featured in several
movies including Robert Duvall's Assassination Tango.
A remarkable choreographer, she choreographed
the Libertango performance of Russian figure skaters Pasha Gritsuk & Evgeni
Platov with which they won the World Championship in 1997 and the Olympic
Gold Medal in 1998! She also performed choreographies for the Tony Award
nominee, Forever Tango.
Combining her talent as a dancer, teacher,
choreographer and actress, she produced her own show, Tango, Historias
Breves (formerly Los Tangos de la Cabala) in which the mystique
and mystery of the Tango, the enigma of human relations and the magic of the
movies, interweave and intertwine on stage.
